About RNC

The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC) is a unique specialist residential further education college for people aged 16 years upwards who are blind or partially sighted.

We are a pioneering organisation which has been and remains at the forefront of specialist education and training for people who are blind or partially sighted since 1872.

Our priority is always the individual - each student has an individual learning plan which they are involved in every step of the way, from induction through to completion of their course. Personal Tutors meet with students every week to discuss their progress and maintain a two way discussion about personal targets to be achieved.

Ultimately we are here to provide the best possible service for people. Through regular consultation with our students we strive to improve the 'RNC Experience' from our courses to extra curricular activities and social events.

"I'm currently studying Human Biology, Psychology and English as I would like to eventually train as a Physiotherapist. I thought I was pretty independent before I came to RNC, but the skills I have picked up so far have made me even more self-sufficient and confident. I've also enjoyed meeting so many new people from all over the country - my social life is definitely getting better!"
Carolyn is 17 she is registered blind.
